I have been an employee at Legacies since 2016. During this time, I was enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for Exercise Sports Science. Throughout my time at La Crosse, I became increasingly aware of my passion for serving others. This passion met with opportunity as I was offered an internship at Legacies in the fall of 2017. This opportunity better equipped me for teaching independent living skills. As my internship came to a close, I continued to serve clients and families at Legacies to the best of my abilities. This led to the offer of a Designated Coordinator position.
I believe that serving individuals and aiding them in achieving their goals, regardless of their background or circumstance, is an innate human right. I believe that when this right is exercised, more people than those directly involved benefit-communities benefit. There is beauty in people serving people.
Outside of Work
I grew up in a small town in southwest Wisconsin, my house didn’t have cell phone reception or internet while growing up. This gave me an appreciation for the outdoors, and I try to find the quiet of the woods whenever I get the chance. With this appreciation for the outdoors came a passion for fishing and hunting. I also enjoy staying active-I love to play any sport I can.
Something I didn’t mention, is that I never planned to go into this type of work! I went to college to become an Occupational Therapist. Once I started at Legacies I knew a career change was in the works…it only took me a year and a half to admit this to my parents. The rest is history!
